Hevesi Speaks

There are 2,400 employees in the New York State Comptroller’s office. All of them competent, without agenda, and non-political. Or at least that’s what he says…

I was wrong, Alan is actually more boring than Byron Brown. He’s giving us the exciting details of what a Comptroller actually does…it’s hard work, if you didn’t know.

He’s starting to pick up some steam…

  • Government is not the enemy, stupidgovernment is the enemy.
  • The Republican plan to privatize social security is “phony”
  • The New York Pension plan is 100% solvent and has grown from 95BN to 140BN since March of 2003.
  • NY Pension Plan is 97.7% fully funded
  • 600,000 NY employees are paying into the plan
  • 600,000? Holy shit.

Covering his efforts at Medicaid fraud prevention.

193 Level 3 (you know, the real creepy guys who are most likely to commit crimes again) sex offenders were receiving Viagra prescriptions via NY’s Medicaid program. Hevesi fixed that.

Makes you wonder how many other loopholes like that are found in the program. Well, I already wondered…

Evidently, Alan Hevesi is the best thing that ever happened to New York. These events provide the opportunity for these guys to pat themselves on the back…which he should. He’s fighting irresponsible and unsound government every day. He’s the one guy here that I am fully supportive of.

Hevesi is one of the few folks in Albany that I have any regard for.

Right now, the only politicians in New York who I can stand to look at are Alan Hevesi, Sam Hoyt, Cindy Locklear, Mark Poloncarz, and…I guess that’s about it. Damn, I hate a lot of people.

[...] It’s been brought to my attention that in a previous post, I made a pretty big error when describing the number of New York State employees. So, he’s going to change the STAR program and refuses to be nailed down on how he will deal with the burgeoning number of state employees, of which there are currently 600,000. All of them with pensions and hefty benefit packages. [...]
